[Inside there might be a bit of a fangirl scream of happiness at just that little show of a smile. Oh what she would give to have a camera to take a picture of the moment. He's so precious after all.

Sheepishly looks down at her hands as they fiddle with the hem of her dress.] Y-You're welcome.

[After a moment of silence.]

Are you- feeling better? You seemed a little gloomy when we met up.

[Ah. The awkward silence after that doesn't really bother him. It... actually doesn't feel all that awkward either. And he taps away his fingers on the steering wheel and watches the road as he drives. Comfortable silences are a good thing.

Then she speaks again and he isn't sure what to really say. He's been gloomy for a while, but there's no way he actually knows how to speak about that stuff. So he'll just tilt his head while the silence stretches, then looks at her again, shrugging a bit.]

S' fine.

[His body language throws her off a bit. She's used to quiet people who usually hold in their emotions. Austria's not exactly as expressive as some others.

Tilts her head and watches him for a moment before turning her head to look out the front window.]

If something wrong, you can vent. Or if you need an ear to listen, I'll do whatever I can to help you know.

[Ah crap. This is something he doesn't know how to deal with. The only one in his family who gets like this occasionally is Finland and you can usually throw him off with a random change of subject.

He sighs, fidgeting a bit on his seat, fingers curling around the steering wheel instead of tapping on it. He's not drunk enough to speak about the stuff and she already not pleased with that.

Arm hugs. She likes those, right?

He reaches over to pat her hand, just lightly but with certain familiarity.

Awkward.

He watches the road as he says:] Thanks.

[The silence is a bit deafening but she's used to the bit of awkward tension. It's become somewhat of a norm for her back home.

The last thing she expected was the kind gesture he showed and clover eyes widen when she sees his hand on hers. Blushing, she turns her hand and gives his a gentle squeeze.]

You're welcome. We're friends after all and that's what friends do for one another.

Mnn. [It seems to appease her. This is good. He likes spending time with her and it'd be bothersome... right.

They're arriving to the parking lot and he picks a s pot before turning the engine off.]

[Releases his hand once they arrive at their destination. Once the car is parked, she opens her door and steps out carefully.

Glances over to him.] We can see who the first to get drunk is~

[He locks the car, tucking away his keys. Because he probably won't be driving tonight. They can share a cab back.]

Hm? A drinking contest? [A slight bit of teasing in his tone of voice.]

Why not? It might be something rather fun! I did get to train with the Germanics, after all.

Plus, Oktoberfest should be happening so why not! In the spirit of it, that is.

[Now that he's started with this gentlemanly line of action, he might as well open the pub door for her.]

It's a deal then.

[Goodness, such a gentleman.

Heads in to the bar area and finds a nice quiet booth that she can slide in to sit comfortably]

So...are you feeling a little better?

[Pff, rarely. Norway drops his jacket to the seat opposing her and takes a detour to the pub.]

Just a moment...

[He orders her whatever she took last time and himself a beer. He returns with the drinks and takes a seat.]

Don't worry 'bout me. I'll be fine. [He takes a sip and levels a calm look at her.] Just some personal bullshit, but I'll get over it.

[Watches him in wait, still mulling over in her mind what possibly could be wrong.

Once he returns, she smiles and nods her head in thanks before taking a sip of it cup.] The way you say it makes it sound kind of sad though. Or at least- deep.

[Takes another sip of her drink.] 'Getting over it' sometimes is the hardest thing to do.

[Norway won't offend her intelligence by denying everything again. So he'll just nod, taking another sip of his beer.]

's fine. Gone through disappointments before. [A small, rather humorless smirk.]

Didn't ask ye out to talk 'bout m'problems, though.

Sounds a little cynical but- I guess we've all been through something like that before. [Nods to herself, taking another sip.

Sets her glass down and yup...awkward silence.]

[He stays quiet for a moment, then takes a long gulp of his beer. He didn't mean to make her uncomfortable. It just seems very ungrateful to unload on her when he asked her out for drinks...]

... 'm sorry. It's a ridiculous issue. [And there's a bit of embarrassed color upon his cheeks.] Appreciate the concern, though.

[Blinks and glances up from her glass.]

Ridiculous? I doubt that... We all go through things that are confusing but never ridiculous.

[He tilts his head, curiously.]

Y'too?

[He doesn't speak about these kind of things, practically never. But somehow she has made him open up to give this much already. It's new and he's not used to having someone actually respond without either a mountain of awkwardness or well meaning but misguided enthusiasm.]

I think we all have in some way or another.

Sometimes you think it means nothing but the feeling of moving might disrupt that thought, so you stay as you are in hopes of keeping everything calm.

Ha ha, I apologize, I guess it is silly when you say it aloud rather than in one's head. [Hurries to bring her glass up to her lips and indulges in a rather long sip.]

No, it's not silly.

[He watches her, taking that sip, embarrassed, and there's a touch of a smile curving his lips. She's cute.]

Change is terrifying.

[It's also strange how easily that slips past his lips. He isn't used to admitting being afraid of something.]

Maybe we're just changing faster, like humans. [That's what they are now, right?] Nations do not turn around in a flash. Except in the 1800's. [He gives a small smirk at that, aiming to give her a bit of a laugh.]

I suppose I've ... [He sobers up a bit, peering into his beer.] --forced m'self into a place where I gotta let go of something ages old and familiar.

[Sets her glass back down after a long drink and just watches him before speaking.]

In that case we adapt to survive. Times have been changing so dramatically for us as of late but- I think it's important to remember and hold on to what's shaped us and made us, who we are today.

Do you think letting go would be for the best? Nothing's worth regretting or wondering forever on the "what if's"

It's not that simple. Whether I want ta or not, doesn't really matter anymore.

[He shrugs, taking another gulp of beer as if nothing was bothering him. But that's just the way he looks, always calm and disinterested. The turmoil inside is a different matter. It's hard to let go of something he's known for centuries if not almost a thousand years soon.]

I think we just settle for that kind of reason because it's easier to accept than the truth. [Glances down at her drink once more with rather heavy eyes. How many hellos were painted with goodbyes? Even if her and Austria were no longer married, she still had a great deal of love for him yet the same could be said about Prussia as well. A childhood friend and life time partner that so easily vanished from the world.

It doesn't matter anymore was surely a better way to deal with the harsh realities.]

[It's obvious in her tone of voice that something hit home with that statement. Norway watches her, and wonders if she'd tell him if he would ask what makes her lower her gaze so heavily, and yet, he can guess without her making a point about it.

She has actually been a good friend, and he can't deny liking her quite a bit, more than he probably should. She seems to like small physical gestures like arm hugging and hand patting and while he doesn't really understand the fascination, he is capable of applying them to practice.

Norway reaches over to grasp her hand, squeezing it warmly.]

Ye get used ta letting go when yer lifespan stretches over centuries. Even if it might turn ye a bit cynical over time.

[It doesn't really dawn on her that she was being lame and emotional again. What happened to the Nation so many feared in her youth.

The gesture and gentle touch makes her blush a bit and look up from her slightly inebriated thoughts.]

Cynical or not, sometimes we don't want to forget. England pretends to forget America's youth but we all know how often he thinks of it. Greece tries to forget about our life with Turkey but he's often reminded... If we forget then it feels like a part of our history dies out...so, just hold on a little more, even if it hurts.

[Turns her hand so her fingers can gently lace with his.] It's confusing and it might hurt but- in the end it's our burdens to bear for our hearts.
