[Watches him in wait, still mulling over in her mind what possibly could be wrong.

Once he returns, she smiles and nods her head in thanks before taking a sip of it cup.] The way you say it makes it sound kind of sad though. Or at least- deep.

[Takes another sip of her drink.] 'Getting over it' sometimes is the hardest thing to do.

[Norway won't offend her intelligence by denying everything again. So he'll just nod, taking another sip of his beer.]

's fine. Gone through disappointments before. [A small, rather humorless smirk.]

Didn't ask ye out to talk 'bout m'problems, though.

Sounds a little cynical but- I guess we've all been through something like that before. [Nods to herself, taking another sip.

Sets her glass down and yup...awkward silence.]

[He stays quiet for a moment, then takes a long gulp of his beer. He didn't mean to make her uncomfortable. It just seems very ungrateful to unload on her when he asked her out for drinks...]

... 'm sorry. It's a ridiculous issue. [And there's a bit of embarrassed color upon his cheeks.] Appreciate the concern, though.

[Blinks and glances up from her glass.]

Ridiculous? I doubt that... We all go through things that are confusing but never ridiculous.

[He tilts his head, curiously.]

Y'too?

[He doesn't speak about these kind of things, practically never. But somehow she has made him open up to give this much already. It's new and he's not used to having someone actually respond without either a mountain of awkwardness or well meaning but misguided enthusiasm.]

I think we all have in some way or another.

Sometimes you think it means nothing but the feeling of moving might disrupt that thought, so you stay as you are in hopes of keeping everything calm.

Ha ha, I apologize, I guess it is silly when you say it aloud rather than in one's head. [Hurries to bring her glass up to her lips and indulges in a rather long sip.]

No, it's not silly.

[He watches her, taking that sip, embarrassed, and there's a touch of a smile curving his lips. She's cute.]

Change is terrifying.

[It's also strange how easily that slips past his lips. He isn't used to admitting being afraid of something.]

Maybe we're just changing faster, like humans. [That's what they are now, right?] Nations do not turn around in a flash. Except in the 1800's. [He gives a small smirk at that, aiming to give her a bit of a laugh.]

I suppose I've ... [He sobers up a bit, peering into his beer.] --forced m'self into a place where I gotta let go of something ages old and familiar.

[Sets her glass back down after a long drink and just watches him before speaking.]

In that case we adapt to survive. Times have been changing so dramatically for us as of late but- I think it's important to remember and hold on to what's shaped us and made us, who we are today.

Do you think letting go would be for the best? Nothing's worth regretting or wondering forever on the "what if's"

It's not that simple. Whether I want ta or not, doesn't really matter anymore.

[He shrugs, taking another gulp of beer as if nothing was bothering him. But that's just the way he looks, always calm and disinterested. The turmoil inside is a different matter. It's hard to let go of something he's known for centuries if not almost a thousand years soon.]

I think we just settle for that kind of reason because it's easier to accept than the truth. [Glances down at her drink once more with rather heavy eyes. How many hellos were painted with goodbyes? Even if her and Austria were no longer married, she still had a great deal of love for him yet the same could be said about Prussia as well. A childhood friend and life time partner that so easily vanished from the world.

It doesn't matter anymore was surely a better way to deal with the harsh realities.]

[It's obvious in her tone of voice that something hit home with that statement. Norway watches her, and wonders if she'd tell him if he would ask what makes her lower her gaze so heavily, and yet, he can guess without her making a point about it.

She has actually been a good friend, and he can't deny liking her quite a bit, more than he probably should. She seems to like small physical gestures like arm hugging and hand patting and while he doesn't really understand the fascination, he is capable of applying them to practice.

Norway reaches over to grasp her hand, squeezing it warmly.]

Ye get used ta letting go when yer lifespan stretches over centuries. Even if it might turn ye a bit cynical over time.

[It doesn't really dawn on her that she was being lame and emotional again. What happened to the Nation so many feared in her youth.

The gesture and gentle touch makes her blush a bit and look up from her slightly inebriated thoughts.]

Cynical or not, sometimes we don't want to forget. England pretends to forget America's youth but we all know how often he thinks of it. Greece tries to forget about our life with Turkey but he's often reminded... If we forget then it feels like a part of our history dies out...so, just hold on a little more, even if it hurts.

[Turns her hand so her fingers can gently lace with his.] It's confusing and it might hurt but- in the end it's our burdens to bear for our hearts.

[Fingers lacing together makes him blink but he doesn't draw his hand away. She seems to have this kind of effect on him.]

No. [He shakes his head slightly.] Can't forget. History is part of us. But we can move on. [He used to hate Sweden. Now it's a completely different matter. Relationships evolve just like time does.]

Not all change is bad. [It'll just be different.]

[Eeps a squeak quietly and pulls her hand back with another blush and lowers her head.]

Sorry about that...I keep forgetting you're not really a touchy-feely individual.

[Norway snorts softly as he picks up his beer. If he had minded, he'd have pulled his hand back.]

's fine.

[Nods and decides to just stick to drinking down all the alcohol she can for the moment.]

[The quiet stretches between them. The color upon her cheeks is cute, Norway finds himself thinking.

Eventually he'll run out of beer and take another trip to the bar, returning with a tray of small shots. The drinking contest, remember? He lines up the drinks in two row before both of them.]

Are ye ready to start?

[Oh crap that's right, she almost forgot about the contest.

Sitting up in her seat, she nods and takes a deep breath to help steady herself. She can do this! She nearly out-drank Germany and Prussia and even Russia with his vodka. She can do this.

Takes one of the shot glasses and gives a small smile.] *Egészségünkre.

[ooc: *To our health]

[Norway mirrors her, picking up one of the glasses.]

Skål.

[And with that the first one goes down. He gives a small grimace at the potency of the alcohol. He isn't has heavy drinker as Denmark who rates at the top of the world, but Norway can hold his own. Who knows they might be tied! That rarely actually matters at the end of these things...]

[Exhales and takes a swig back, downing the shot in one go.

Sets the glass down with a clank as she hisses and shudders her shoulders. She forgot about her human body and just how vulnerable she seems to be to things that she hardly thought twice about back home.]

[But then again, Norway has had a lot of practice in Holly Heights. The first three months were pretty much the most boring of his life and he did drink quite a bit, often to a point of no return. It was hard to know his own limits as a human. But he's been here for over half a year, it's getting easier. He'll make sure she won't need to leave through a hospital either.

With a small smirk, he tips the glass upside down on the table.]

I gotta admit, I like beer more.

I think I like France's version of vodka more. You can hardly taste anything but a warming sensation. Who knew...Russia was rather angry about that, from what I heard.

[Takes another one of the glasses and dips it and her head back, downing another glass with a gulp and a hiss. Shakes her head and turns the glass over, setting it down next to the previous one with a clank.]

Ssss...at least the burning is becoming less.

The taste is half the trip, I guess. [Norway shrugs. He wouldn't want a beer that tasted like nothing. But each for their own. On principle, he'd disagree with anything Russia says, but that's another matter.

He takes another drink. Can't fall back after all. His eyes squint a bit as he places the glass upside down on the table.]

We can stop this if y'like. [Amused, maybe getting a bit drunk here.]

Depends on what it is sometimes I guess.

[Shakes her head and picks up another tiny glass.] Nah, it's a contest. I'm not gonna lose so easily.

[Perhaps a small whine but brings the glass to her lips and throws it back once more. The burn doesn't seem as bad but she can feel her cheeks and stomach become warmer.]
